Seasons dangerous for your healthy diet are fast approaching – Thanksgiving & Christmas – both traditionally times of serious over-indulgence! So I hope this detox smoothie is in good time, and you’ll keep it in mind to off-set any over-eating that catches you out!
Its a vegan smoothie from Dana (MinimalistBaker.com) – cleanses your body and tastes absolutely delicious.
Dana describes it as “…like reversing any bad decisions you may have made over the weekend, while getting a massage.”
Interesting imagery! Dana goes on…
How about we offset some of that decadence with a healthy, 5 ingredient superfood smoothie? That’s what I thought we could all use…
Oh mama. So much detoxifying goodness in the form of:
- Fiber
- Antioxidants
- Omega 3 fatty acids
- Vitamin C
- Folic acid
- phytonutrients, etc., etc.
Does the body (seriously) good!

Recipe: Weight-loss Protector Smoothie – Meal on the Move #9
Vegan, 5 ingredient, 5 minute detox smoothie with lots of fiber, antioxidants, and immune boosting nutrients for optimum health. Perfect for breakfast or a snack.
Ingredients (Serves 2; 181 calories per serving)
- 1 cup frozen berries
- 1 cup organic spinach or kale
- 1/2 cup bananas, previously peeled, sliced & frozen
- 1 Tbsp flax seed meal
- 1 cup fruit juice (I mixed pomegranate & orange = my faves)
- Optional: 2 Tbsp silken tofu
So creamy. So delicious!
Tips:
- Use frozen raspberries, blueberries, or whatever berries are your favorite
- For more sweetness, add extra frozen banana.
- This smoothie starts with a base of frozen berries. I can’t bear going without berries all winter long, so snagging frozen ones at the store is the perfect solution. Plus, they make a healthy and delicious base for smoothies.
- Dig in some silken tofu for added protein instead of almond or peanut butter. Dana says she often does in this smoothie (but she counts it as optional since it’s already seriously creamy and nutritious as is).
