Another tasty strawberry smoothie. However, why do you say ‘breakfast smoothie’ I hear you ask?
Because it has many of the healthy ingredients we might choose to have for breakfast, of course! But you can have it at any other time of day, too, lol.
Increase the orange flavor by adding the grated zest of the orange. This is rich in flavenoids (antioxidants) plus it contains considerable amounts of calcium, copper, magnesium, vitamin A, folate and other B vitamins and dietary fiber.

The orange juice gives this smoothie a wonderful bright, tangy flavor and is what really makes the smoothie special, in my opinion.

Recipe: Strawberry Breakfast Smoothie
Serves 2-3
All calorie calculations are an estimate. Calorie-content varies according to product and accuracy of measurement. Check the info on your packaging if you require exact numbers for what you eat.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Strawberries, fresh or frozen
- zest of 1 medium Orange, wash well before removing the zest
- plus the Orange, you can add the pith, especially if it is thin
- 1/2 cup sharp Orange juice
- 1 Banana, sliced, preferably frozen
- 1/2 cup Oats
- 2 Tbs Sunflower seeds
- Water to reach your preferred consistency
- Ice cubes, especially if you have no frozen fruit
Optional: a few drops Orange Extract, if you wish to increase the orange flavor
Blend until smooth and enjoy.
Serves 2; approx 280 cals each
