“Believe the hype,” says Jenny Sugar, writing at PopSugar, as she gives us 5 reasons why smoothies are the best breakfast to have when you want to lose weight.
Reason 1: They’re Filling
Yes, drinking the right kind of smoothie is filling as well as good for you. However, the crucial thing is to include a good dose of fiber, protein and healthy fat. Fiber-rich greens and grains like spinach, kale and broccoli. Proteins like yogurt, kefir or just plain old milk are good. Healthy fats like avocado, flaxseeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, nut butters also add protein and fiber. These will keep you full and stop your snacking.
Reason 2: Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
Jenny says …
If sugary pastries, doughnuts, and pancakes doused in syrup are what you crave, there’s a fruit-filled smoothie out there to satisfy your needs, from banana bread, to carrot cake, to chocolate cashew. Naturally sweet and without added sugars, these smoothies clock in at a fraction of the calories of the baked stuff.
