This was our breakfast yesterday morning and again today. We liked it so much – and we have loads of oranges and lemons to use up, lol! It’s a filling recipe, yet fits well into our healthy eating weight loss program.
Yesterday we had a green smoothie and today it was orange. As we’d run out of kale and spinach we substituted carrots.
Wash the orange and lemon carefully then remove some of the zest from each to include in your smoothie. If you know your blender can cope with the seeds then just throw in the peeled fruit. However, if you do not think it will cope, then remove them first. It seems lemons always have a lot of seeds.

Recipe: Weight Loss Program: Banana Citrus Green Smoothie
Serves 2; approx 353 cals each
or serves 3; approx 235 cals each
Ingredients:
- 2 handfuls chopped Kale or Spinach
Or 2 large Carrots - 1/2 cup Oats
- 2 tbs ground Almonds
- 1 Orange, zest, then peel
- 1 Lemon or Lime, zest, then peel
- 2 medium Bananas, ripe and spotty but not black
- 4 Dates
- 2 cups Water
Blend until smooth and enjoy.
