Are you thinking about losing another few pounds before summer really hits? Then consider drinking green tea as it can boost the metabolism and help you use up a few more calories. And every calorie used boosts weight loss.

As with everything else, green tea is not a magic potion that suddenly makes us skinny overnight. Losing weight can only happen as part of a healthy weight loss program. But every little change in our diet helps.

So what does green tea do?

Several studies have suggested that the flavonoids and caffeine in green tea can help elevate metabolic rate, increase fat oxidation and even improve insulin activity. One study showed that those who consumed green tea and caffeine lost an average of 2.9 pounds during a 12-week period, while sticking to their regular diet. Another study suggested the increase in calorie output was equal to about 100 calories over a 24-hour period.

Chew slowly to give our brain time to register we are full
