Reds and yellows and oranges – the colors of a beautiful sunrise or sunset make up this delish smoothie from Maryea at HappyHealthyMama. Maryea was thinking of a sunset when she put it together, but since we usually have smoothies for breakfast a sunrise smoothie is just as appropriate.
Maryea likes to start the day for herself and her children with a little fruit and vegetables. She says …
Carrots are a great smoothie vegetable because they are naturally sweet and pair great with fruit. I steamed the carrot for this one to make the smoothie extra smooth. Using raw carrots is okay, but the texture won’t be as creamy. Plus, carrots are one vegetable where cooking them actually boosts their nutritional content.
