It’s lavender season in Provence, France (and other places, too, I’m sure!) The fields are full of blossom and the fragrance is unbelievable as you brush the flowers when you pass them – out of this world! I love the perfume.
I’ve learned over the last few years that lavender is also a wonderful addition to cooking. So after finding a recipe for Lavender Lemon Curd Frozen Yogurt – a delicious find for a hot day – I wondered about lavender smoothies … and came across this one by Emily Cope, MS, RDN at EmilyKyleNutrition. Emily informs us that …
Just the smell of lavender can evoke a sense of stress relief. Used for thousands of years, lavender could be the #1 food traditionally used to help ease panic and anxiety of all time. Lavender can be used fresh or dried, in oil or tea form. I also like to enjoy a hot cup of lavender tea during times of panic or anxiety to bring about a sense of calm and peace! Lavender combined with avocado and banana can have some amazing stress relieving qualities. Both of these amazing fruits are high in potassium which can help to reduce and regulate blood pressure levels within the body. During times of stress, regulating blood pressure is key to remaining calm and focused.
