I love to add a handful of those little green peas still in their plump pods to a smoothie. (Forgive me, memory fails me at the moment, what are they called?) Anyway, they give a lovely fresh taste that is just a little different from the usual spinach flavor … er, non-flavor, lol! That and a scant half handful of arugula ring the changes and bump up the flavor without dominating it.
I’ve usually just swapped the peas for spinach, but here is an actual recipe from GreenBlender. They use snow peas, which I’ve used before too, but it’s the plumper ones whose name I’ve forgotten … Oh, if I only had a brain! (Will bursting into song help me? I doubt it, lol! Are you with me … Kansas, tornado, ruby slippers … scarecrow – you’ve got to be with me now, yes?)
Anyway, back on the topic smoothies, the author at GreenBlender fills us in a little …
Light, refreshing and full of flavor, this green smoothie makes it easy to eat your greens. Snow peas are rich in vitamin K and B6 which keep your bones strong. They are also rich in vitamin C, boosting your immune system.
