I just love the flavor of Kiwi! It has to be one of my favourite fresh fruits. So when I found this vitamin-rich kiwi smoothie recipe by Rebecca Bohl of HealingSmoothies.com I was delighted – and so will you be when you try it.
Spinach is not my favorite vegetable! But I respect its nutritional value – and what better way to consume spinach than having it in a smoothie?
According to Rebecca the combination brings fantastic nutritional benefits:
The small kiwifruit is actually an amazing source of vitamin C. One kiwi contains over 200 percent of the daily recommended amount.
…
Spinach is similarly high in vitamin C and vitamin K, so this smoothie is packed to the brim with health benefits. Pairing kiwi and spinach together, two of the best sources of vitamin K, will ensure that you are getting the nutrients that your body needs. Both kiwi and spinach also have potassium, which balances the body’s electrolytes and helps lower blood pressure. Furthermore, kiwi and spinach team up to provide a significant amount of lutein and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants aid in preventing macular degeneration, a deteriorating of the retina that leads to vision loss.
