
I love the tang a lime adds to food. And this smoothie is no exception. It just makes the whole thing a lot more refreshing, not to mention tropical.
Remember to add the grated zest from the (washed) lime skin, too, to get the full benefit of the fruit. The limonene found in the skin promotes weight loss, aids digestion, reduces acid reflux, relieves symptoms of depression, has anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties, inhibits cancer cell growth and stimulates the immune system.
Throw in the mint, mango, spinach and banana and you’ve got an excellent health boosting smoothie. And at only about 200 calories a serving it can slot in anywhere in your day. Or add more feel-full-nutrients with protein like Greek Yogurt or Cottage Cheese or nut butter. Oats are another great addition.

Recipe: Refreshing Weight Loss Green Smoothie with Lime, Mint and Mango
Serves 2
Ingredients:

2 cups baby Spinach or roughly chopped spinach leaves (about 2 ounces)
1 1/2 cup Ice cubes
1 cup unsweetened Almond Milk
1/2 cup lightly packed fresh Mint leaves
1/4 cup Lime juice, from a fresh Lime or two, with the grated zest
1 large ripe juicy Mango, or 2 small, about 2 cups, roughly chopped
1 small Banana (optional)
Blend until smooth. Taste and if you need extra sweetener add the banana.
Approx. 200 cals per serving.
