I said recently that pomegranates are relatively new to me.  I’ve known of them but had never tried them.

When out a few months back we noticed new plants / bushes in the fields nearby and didn’t know what they were.  Well, while out on Sunday afternoon we saw they are pomegranates – a new crop for the area which is why we did not recognise the shrubs before the fruit arrived.  So perhaps we’ll soon get the chance to buy them at the local market or maybe even get a chance to speak with the farmer and pick them straight from the field.  How exciting!

This Pomegranate Strawberry Yogurt Smoothie comes from Erin at DelightfulEMade and the details are at the end of the post. Erin tells us …

This smoothie packs a punch, with two full servings of fruit, a full serving of dairy, and since its made with Greek yogurt, it also provides about 7-12 (depending on what type you use) grams of protein which will help you stay fuller longer. The strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C and fiber. Additionally, pomegranates are considered a super-fruit, as they are a great source of Vitamin C, B-12, folate and are known to fight free radicals within the body.
