I picked up a lovely ripe mango and some fresh ginger in the store today. When I got home I went online looking for a new smoothie flavor – I hadn’t tried before – in which to use them. I found this one from Aimee who writes at WallflowerKitchen. I liked the challenge she set herself to use something new, and having decided on spirulina she was then on the hunt for strong flavors to disguise its strong taste. (BTW, if you don’t have any or don’t want to use it, it’s ok to omit it – you’ll still have one flavorful smoothie.)
Aimee says all the super ingredients in her recipe …
… make for one super healthy smoothie. It’s:
- Dairy-free & vegan
- Gluten-free, grain-free & paleo-friendly
- Naturally sweetened with fruit
- 10g plant-based protein per serving
- Over 12g fibre!
- Over 100% the RDA of Vitamin C & Vitamin A
- 50% RDA of calcium
- High in iron
