I love bananas, in smoothies, or on their own. But not everyone feels the same…
Some folks, for allergy or personal preference reasons, want to avoid bananas. And in the world of smoothies, healthy or treat, this can present a major challenge – since a huge proportion of green smoothie recipes rely on banana for creamy texture, potassium-rich nutrients, good sugars, etc.
I like Lauren Vacula’s (from alovelysideproject.com) answer to this challenge – she shares a smoothie that’s really healthy and good for detox cleansing, still retaining the creaminess of a banana smoothie – but without the banana!
Here’s Lauren to reveal her secret…
Pear helps give the smoothie creaminess, while detoxifying agents like parsley, lemon juice, and ginger pack a powerful punch.
I added a few drops of liquid stevia to sweeten this smoothie.
(Feel free to leave out the stevia if you don’t mind the taste of parsley.)
