This key lime pie smoothie is a great alternative to the calorie laden original for when you need to go a little lite or can no longer eat the real thing. It’s tasty and nutritious. Full of Vitamin C from the limes, healthy fat and with sufficient natural sweetness to take the edge of those wonderful limes. As usual, the recipe is at the end of the post.
The recipe comes from Ivy Larsen, a native of Florida, and a lover of key lime pie, who says of this version …
For any fellow die-hard Key Lime pie lovers it might be inconceivable that a smoothie recipe made from ingredients like banana, coconut milk and dates could come even remotely close to tasting anything at all like the authentic pie. But trust me, it does. Even without refined sugar or dairy, the Smoothie Key Lime Pie Recipe below still hits the spot if you are craving the tart and tangy real deal. The only thing missing is the graham cracker crust.
