I love peanut butter and banana smoothies. Add some cocoa powder and I’m in heaven, lol! Unfortunately they can be very high in calories so I have to be careful, both when I make them, that I measure carefully, and that I don’t have too many.
That said, sometimes just a little taste is enough to satisfy my need for something sweet and chocolatey – and there is a load more nutrients in one of these, even if it is a small one, than in a chocolate bar. I never thought I’d hear myself saying I actually prefer this peanut butter and banana smoothie to a chocolate bar, lol!
This indulgent, thick and fudgy peanut butter smoothie recipe is from Averie at AverieCooks. (Or save 100 calories or more with my lighter version.) Averie tells us about her recipe …
This vegan, gluten-free smoothie is thick, rich, and tastes like drinkable chocolate-peanut butter fudge.
What I love about this smoothie is that it’s made with ingredients I always have around.
Frozen bananas add richness, fullness, and creaminess to the smoothie. You can taste them, but not overly so because they’re masked by the cocoa powder and peanut butter. I haven’t found a way to get a smoothie this thick without them.
