Mmmm! We have a lovely Chia Chocolate Smoothie recipe from RealFoodSource.org (see the end of the post.)
Chia is high in antioxidants and fatty acids. It is full of vitamins and minerals (calcium, potassium and manganese), high in fiber and also contains protein. You can soak them, grind them and even eat them whole … although they do have a tendency to stick in your teeth.
Dr Josh Axe lists 9 health benefits fro chia and says …

Essentially proving that chia seeds are one of nature’s riches antioxidants. Antioxidants speed up the skin’s repair systems, and prevent further damage. Taking chia seeds can prevent premature skin aging due to inflammation free radical damage.

Some of the other benefits Dr Axe lists include:
1. Improved digestive health due the fiber, which also curbs hunger and suppresses appetite thus leading to weigh loss;
2. Improved heart health because chia seeds reverse inflammation, regulate cholesterol and lower blood pressure;

Recipe: Health-Giving Chia Chocolate Smoothie
Serves 1-2
Ingredients:
- 1 medium ripe Banana
- 2 cups non dairy Milk (we used our coconut milk powder)
- 1 – 2 tbs raw Cocoa powder (depending how chocolatey you would like it!)
- 1 tbs fine Coconut flour
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Powder
- 2tbs ground Chia Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Blend and enjoy.
