Sweet potatoes are packed with calcium and magnesium (good for healthy bones), potassium (good for blood pressure) and manganese (good for wound healing & metabolism), are an unusually high source vitamin A (good for eye health; no other food contains as much!), and have Vitamins B6 (for the metabolism and nervous system) & C (good for immune system). They are a great aid in weight loss as they are absorbed slowly, stay in your digestive tract longer, meaning you feel fuller longer. They may also help control appetite and delay hunger cues, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Surely all this goodness puts them in the superfood category!

Dr Axe says they are also great for the skin …

Eating sweet potatoes can greatly enhance the health of your skin due to the high content of beta-carotene, which helps convert vitamin A in your body that triggers DNA responsible to produce new skin cells. Ever wonder why most of your skincare products have retinoic acid and retinol in them?

As your body makes new cells, your old skin is sloughed off and you end up with a vibrant sheen that is more resistant to chemicals and damage. Also, some experts claim that beta-carotene helps reverse free radical damage, which leads to wrinkles.
