[Recipe] Fruity Pumpkin-Pie-Spice Smoothie

Fruity Pumpkin-Pie-Spice Smoothie

OK, it’s not the season for pumpkin pie but I still love the flavors of pumpkin pie spice, don’t you? The Brits call it mixed spice and use it in many sweet and savory recipes.

Since it’s not pumpkin season you may not have any pumpkin spice handy so whether you are making desserts, cakes, puddings or, in our case today, smoothies, check out the end of the post for what you need to blend you own pumpkin pie spice mix

The recipe is from Kaila at HealthyHelperBlog who is a big fan of smoothies. She says …

Smoothie season is upon us so what better time to celebrate all their deliciousness! I have tons of people asking me for my smoothie recipes and while I do have some of them in my recipe page … I have yet to share [this] smoothie recipe!

Recipe: Fruity Pumpkin-Pie-Spice Smoothie

Serves 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Banana, frozen, sliced

  • 1/2 Pear, sliced

  • 3/4 cup Almond Milk

  • 1 scoop Pumpkin Spice Amazing Grass superfood powder*

  • 2 cups of raw Spinach

  • Ice

  • a shake of Cinnamon

  • ½ tsp Guar Gum (optional)

Blend and enjoy your smoothie … whether from a glass or in a bowl covered with delicious toppings, the choice is yours!

* Alternately add some pumpkin pie spice to taste.

Maria, who blogs at Two Peas and Their Pod, was a guest blogger on The Pioneer Woman website. Her recipe was Pumpkin Pie Spice and here’s what she had to say about it …

Making your own [pumpkin pie spice] costs less than buying a jar at the store. I bet you have all of the spices in your cabinet now: ground cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, ground allspice, and ground cloves. You just have to put them together!

Recipe: Pumpkin Pie Spice

Serves: 5 x 1 tablespoon servings, or to taste

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons Ground Cinnamon

  • 2 teaspoons Ground Ginger

  • 2 teaspoons Nutmeg

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Allspice

  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves

Mix well, and store in a jar.
