I haven’t had a chocolate smoothie for ages … it must be more than a week since my last one. A chocolate smoothie with hidden greens is a win-win situation, don’t you think? A healthy dose of chocolate with it’s antioxidant properties and a great way to get the family – not to mention me! – to have an extra serving or two of healthy green nutrients.
This smoothie is from Laura at TheGreenForks (recipe at the end) who says …
Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for the banana flavor … And usually you can’t completely omit it because it’s needed for sweetness. That’s when I turn to mulberries. I use 1/4 cup dried white mulberries to replace 1 banana in smoothies. They offer a nice touch of sweetness with a pretty neutral flavor and a bunch of health benefits, such as antioxidants and fiber. Keep in mind though that by ditching the banana, you will lose some volume and frostiness to the smoothie. ENTER: additional ice. Haha.
