When it comes to sesame seeds there are only a couple of things that usually come to my mind: hummus and crackers. So it was interesting to realise recently when investigating how to make nut butters that sesame seed butter is almost as common as peanut butter … I just didn’t put two and two together to realise that it’s usually called tahini – duh!
Anyway, this delicious smoothie, from Mel at aVirtualVegan (details at the end of the post), uses a spoonful of tahini to boost the nutrition and make it a little different from the usual peanut butter and chocolate smoothie mixes we see everywhere. Plus there’s some ‘greens’ by way of pumpkin, or use butternut squash if that’s what you have to hand. Mel says …
Set yourself up for the day with this velvety smooth, creamy, thick & incredibly delicious … smoothie. It might taste rich enough for dessert but it is healthy, satisfying and full of nutrients!
