A berry-rich apple and raspberry is a wonderful combination. And making smoothies for the family is great. It seems the kids love them even more than the adults. It’s a great way for the whole family to start their day, especially when you include slow-releasing energy foodstuffs like oats and flax seeds.
Food scientist and culinary arts graduate Jessica Gavin combines her two loves and comes up with great food.
Raspberries are like tiny delicate edible gems. I love the enticing fuschia color it adds to the smoothie. These fruity beauties are a rich source of phytonutrients and are an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamin C, and manganese.
To make this smoothie extra creamy, I added banana which not only is a good source of potassium, but it also has fibers called fructooligosaccharides (FOS) that are fermented by the good bacteria in your gut to aid in a healthy digestive system.
If you haven’t noticed the trend yet, this raspberry apple smoothie is a nutrient ninja for digestive health!
