If you are a regular visitor, you might have noticed I’ve been on a watermelon smoothie kick recently. So here’s the 3rd (and probably the last for now) watermelon smoothie recipe. All great for weight-loss, this one is particularly chosen as a summer detox, meal-replacement smoothie, since it is both delicious & invigorating!
Again, great input from Tracy Russell (incrediblesmoothies.com) to get your creative juices flowing and give you some great new ideas to add to your favorite smoothie recipes.
Check out the recipe below and let me know what you think.
Tracy explains ...
[The] Two cleansing foods that are perfect for a summer detox is sweet watermelon and chlorophyll-rich kale. Blended with orange (another super cleansing fruit), this green smoothie is as delicious as it is invigorating.
Watermelon contains the amino acids citrulline and arginine, which can help maintain arteries, blood flow and overall cardiovascular function.
A sulfur-containing phytonutrient in kale called sulforaphane is believed to have powerful anti-cancer, anti-diabetic and anti-microbial properties and is released when the leaves are chopped or chewed (or blended in a green smoothie!) Kale is also great for cleansing and detoxing.
